Students Clubs

Clubs emerge when a group of students mobilizes around a professional goal, a common interest or an innovative idea. These groups can foster networking, and create experiences that go way beyond the walls of the classrooms.

AHEAD is an international volunteering project. Every year, a group of students from various schools of NOVA University Lisbon goes to Mozambique or Sao Tome and Principe during July and August. The main objectives of the project center on education and social responsibility. These objectives come into practice with classes taught in universities and in primary schools, including in Portugal. The application and selection processes happen at the beginning of each academic year (in the middle of October), following months of arduous preparation work.

AIESEC is an international non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development and global cross-cultural internship, besides volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. Their focus is to empower young people so they can make a positive impact on society.

The CEMS Club Lisbon is a networking platform for CEMS Students, CEMS Alumni, Corporate Partners, and Academic Members. Its main goal is to combine the academic program with social and professional events while improving student life and enhancing the relationships between all stakeholders.

The CEMS Club Lisbon represents CEMS students currently studying at Nova SBE, home, and incoming.

The Creative Hub was created with the purpose of helping students develop their creative abilities. The Club inspires them to leave their comfort zone and learn new creative skill sets while connecting them with successfully creative professionals, and teaching them design thinking.

The Economics Without Borders Club was born from the urgent need to alert and expose the lack of pluralism in Economics and its teaching. EwB considers the disconnection between Economics and other social sciences a serious restriction to a broader understanding of social and economic phenomena. 

With this in mind, the EwB organizes several initiatives that promote a pluralistic approach to Economy, involving various authors, schools of thought, and topics.

The ForTuna of Nova School of Business & Economics was founded with the goal of fostering the academic spirit, contributing to the musical training and personal development of its elements.
ForTuna brings together a wide range of musical instruments: guitars, mandolins, ukuleles, bass, tambourines, among others. It has a wide repertoire consisting mostly of originals but also including adapted songs.

The GreenNova project aims to develop social and environmental sustainability in the school community.

One of the current objectives is to collect paper at Nova SBE and, with the support of Banco Alimentar (the Portuguese Food Bank) and the residue-collecting firm Quima, recycle this paper, in order to convert it in food for families in need and solidarity institutions.

The Club has others projects, all aiming to provide more sustainability, protect the environment, and helping charitable causes.

The MSN - Masters Student Network was created to improve life at Nova SBE for Master’s students, providing guidance and motivation to handle any issue. 

They bring together Students and Alumni of the Nova SBE Master’s and accompany them in a variety of services and extra-curricular projects. They create opportunities to constantly innovate and improve students’ lives while promoting the creation of a long-lasting link between the individuals who share these programs.

The Nova Case Team was founded to capacitate its members both regarding hard and soft skills, having as benchmark the current business environment needs. They train problem-solving and presentation skills, the ability to work under pressure or to develop an innovative and analytical thinking within a team dynamic, through hands-on experiences.

Nova Debate is where students of all NOVA University Lisbon schools join to debate ideas. They promote critical spirit and expression of ideas within the academy, with an average of two weekly debates, and participation in national debate tournaments.

In line with UNL's motto, "Omnis Civitas contra se divisa non stabit" ("every city divided against itself shall not stand”), they deepen the interdisciplinarity and critical thinking of their members through debate, sharing and training.

The Economics club at Nova School of Business & Economics gathers undergraduate and postgraduate students at Nova SBE, advised by Nova SBE’s Faculty.

The club exists to empower students to gain practical experience in economic research and foster debate on important issues within economics.
They develop research projects with academic or public interest, in close cooperation with national and international institutions and under the guidance of experienced researchers and faculty members.

The Nova SBE’s Investment Club’s objective is to stimulate students’ interest and understanding of Financial Markets and to bridge the relationship between the corporate and academic world while fostering a positive social environment for networking and fun.

The club has two core technical divisions: the Financial Markets and the Investment Banking division.

They look to support their members in their applications to internships and full-time jobs in the professional world, predominantly in the banking and investment industries. Moreover, the club also has the goal of enriching the knowledge of its members in the topic of financial markets and investment, through interaction between its senior and junior members, attendance to corporate events, production of market wraps and morning call presentations, as well as interactive seminars presented and created by its senior members.

The Nova Marketing club was created with the intent of establishing partnerships with enterprises, start-ups, and charity foundations that would allow mutual benefits through consulting partnerships in the area of Marketing. The Club is composed of Undergraduate and Master’s students who share an interest in this area and want to pursue a career in Marketing or related areas.

The Nova Running Club is an initiative created by Nova SBE students with the intention of joining together members that are willing to run regularly, thus enhancing the students’ contact network as well as creating a healthy lifestyle within the school’s community.

There are weekly practices, and in each session, there will be people responsible for establishing the speeds, and different running paths will be created as to adapt to each of the participating athletes.

NOVA Skills Association consists of a group of students who believe that Soft Skills are main talent drivers.
Their mission is to be a model of excellence in Soft Skills training, based on the creation of a space where students can find counseling on personal development, test their abilities, and receive feedback.

Nova Social Consulting offers pro-bono consulting services to NGOs and Social Enterprises. Their volunteer student consultants provide their knowledge and commitment to social enterprises in Portugal for usually one or two consecutive semesters.
Their clients are either NGOs or social entrepreneurs who make a difference and work hard to achieve their goals.

Nova Surf Club was created to promote surf among students, organizing several activities for different surf levels.
They have a group for beginners and a more advanced one. The advanced group meets almost daily for surf sessions in order to create a team that can represent the school in the National Championship of Universities.

The Nova Tech Club was established upon students’ aspirations for technological literacy, and the need to keep business students in pace with the ever-accelerating technological advancements. 

Inspired by the entrepreneurial uprising of Lisbon’s tech-scene, Nova Tech Club aims at providing an alternative perspective on students’ career paths and traditional branches.
Tech Club helps students dive into the digital world by organizing workshops in coding and technology trends, corporate events, and study trips, letting them tap into the thriving tech-scene of Lisbon, create valuable relationships and find out about future opportunities in both large technology companies and tech startups.

NovaCAFÉ was created to boost and promote cultural activities among students in areas such as urban, literary, musical, cinematographic, performing, and plastic arts. 

They are a collective of students who want to build an inclusive community within Nova SBE and tackle any difficulties in getting the incentive and support to pursue hobbies, talents, and skills after being admitted to the school.

A club for business and economics students interested in a career in investment management, private equity or investment banking to connect with each other, the investment community, and Alumni. 

The Club offers students a unique opportunity to acquire real-world investment analysis and portfolio management skills through the management of a student-run, globally-oriented equity portfolio.

The Social Investment Fund is 100% run by Nova SBE students. Its goal, first and foremost, is to give students a chance to get hands-on experience in securities trading, but also to have a positive impact on society by donating our returns to causes we believe in.

The UNItaly Club was founded to improve the relationship with Italian companies and help Nova SBE broaden its current professional offer by creating the aforementioned network and establishing landmarks, allowing Nova SBE students to have an eased experience when abroad. The aim of Italian classes consists of giving the students the basics of the language, but in a very interactive and fun way.
