Nova School of Business & Economics proudly announces the launch of the Nova SBE Public Policy Institute (NPPI)! 🎓✨ This cutting-edge institute is dedicated to addressing some of today's most pressing public policy challenges.

🌐 Key Areas of Focus:

The NPPI will prioritize several urgent policy areas:

  • Public Finance: Ensuring the sustainability of governmental financial systems.
  • Housing: Designing equitable, affordable housing solutions.
  • Productivity: Examining drivers of economic growth and performance.

The launch event featured an inspiring lineup of speakers, including policymakers and leading academics, such as Luís Cabral, Scientific Director of the Institute, and José Manuel Durão Barroso, former President of the European Commission. E4P's Scientific Director, Pedro Martins, is the NPPI’s Deputy Scientific Director, emphasizing the institute’s commitment to building a strong foundation for public policy research and implementation.

At the "Nova SBE Research in Public Policy" panel, distinguished Nova SBE scholars presented their groundbreaking work. Notably, Professor Antonieta Cunha e Sá, our Scientific Director, shared her research on Biophysical Economics and Sustainability focusing on the intersection of economics and natural ecosystems. Professor Cunha e Sá's research underlines the urgency of integrating sustainability principles into public policy frameworks, ensuring that economic growth aligns with environmental preservation and biodiversity protection.
