Executive Master’s in Finance & Financial Markets

Official degree title: Master’s in Finance & Financial Markets - Executive

This is a program aimed at professionals with higher education who want to understand or deepen the main concepts, techniques, and instruments of finance and financial markets in a perspective that combines a solid theoretical training - which is Nova SBE's hallmark - with an applied approach based on the best international practices and which led Nova's Master’s in Finance to the 14th position in the world in the Financial Times ranking.

The Executive Master's in Finance is aimed at experienced professionals with a degree in an area of solid quantitative training (such as Economics, Management, Engineering, Science, etc.) seeking to develop professional skills in the financial area.

Participant’s Profile

  • Graduates in Economics and Management, and other areas, working in Finance, Financial Markets, Auditing, Accounting, etc., who wish to reinforce their technical knowledge.
  • Graduates in quantitative areas not related to Management, such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, and other sciences who seek to acquire knowledge at an advanced and simultaneously professionalizing level in the areas of Finance and Financial Markets.

1st Semester
Composed of a set of mandatory curricular units that are specific to the area of this Master’s and a set of optional curricular units that allow students to deepen their knowledge in complementary areas of management.

2nd Semester
Dedicated to the development of the final work (work project), consisting of a practical application project.

  • Financial Investments - 4 ECTS
  • Fundamentals of Corporate Finance - 4 ECTS
  • Introduction to Forwards & Futures - 3 ECTS
  • Financial Statement Analysis - 2 ECTS
  • Ethics & "ESG Standards" - 2 ECTS

 

Set of courses from which the student can choose the ones that best suit their needs, totalling 15 ECTS.

The student must choose 6 ECTS, from:

  • Applied Corporate Finance & Restructurings – 6 ECTS
  • Credit Risk – 3 ECTS
  • Equity Analysis and Research – 3 ECTS


The student must choose 6 ECTS, from:

  • Management Control – 6 ECTS
  • Market Risk – 3 ECTS
  • Asset Management – 3 ECTS


The student must choose 3 ECTS, from:

  • Fixed Income – 3 ECTS
  • Options – 3 ECTS
  • Corporate Taxation – 1.5 ECTS
  • Corporate Governance - 1.5 ECTS

The executive master's aims to expose students to innovative trends in the areas of the program, preparing them to deal with the important challenges that companies face today. The work project is intended to prepare students for research activities applied to business reality, whether of a qualitative or quantitative nature, in close collaboration with the supervisor.
