Emir Sirage is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in engineering, technology management, international collaborations, and in the past decade has focused in the European Space ecosystem. With a career spanning several prestigious organizations and roles, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in various domains. Currently serving as the Executive General Manager of the New Space Portugal Agenda, under Portugal Recovery and Resilience programme, representing a strategic investment for Portugal Space sector and Executive Programme Manager at CEiiA (Center of Engineering and Product). Prior to this, held the position of CEO and COO at the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre), where successfully managed the organization's strategy, operational activities and establishment of strategic partnerships across Atlantic regions. His career also includes being a Director of Sales and Business Development at Thales-Edisoft, a key Space company in Portugal, where he played a pivotal role in setting and managing the Space strategy for the company department and fostered key relationships with government stakeholders and facilitated the participation in key initiatives within the Space industry. Between 2009 and 2018, contributed significantly to Portugal's science and technology ecosystem as Senior Manager of a Technology office and International Partnerships at FCT IP. His responsibilities included liaising between the European Space industry and Big Science sector and Portuguese research institutions and industry, coordinating a national strategic agenda for the Space sector, and managing international partnerships worth more than 200 million euros. His international career began at CERN, the renowned International Organization for Fundamental Research in Particle Physics, as a Technology Transfer Officer where he was responsible for managing intellectual property commercialization activities and promoting CERN's technologies among 21 Member states. In addition to his professional roles, Emir has been actively involved in various advisory and mentoring positions, contributing to the growth of startups and innovative projects in fields ranging from space technology, IT and beyond. He holds an impressive educational background, including a Master’s in management of information Systems from ISEG – Lisboa School of Economics and Management, as well as an Executive MBA in Management of Technology from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Engineering and Industrial Management Degree from the University of Minho. He continues to enhance his knowledge, recently completing a program on New Space Economy at MIT and being the Director of the Space for Business programme at Nova School Business and Economics. In his career, he has not only demonstrated exceptional technical knowledge and strategic acumen but also a commitment to fostering innovation, international collaboration, and the growth of emerging technologies. He is a dynamic professional whose contributions hopefully will have impact on the fields of space, technology management, and beyond.
