Awards | 22 May 2023 Nova SBE Executive Education climbs to the World's Top 18 in the Financial Times Ranking

Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) climbed four positions and conquered the best position ever achieved by a Portuguese school - 18th place worldwide and 15th in Europe, according to the Financial Times, which has just released the ranking that assesses business schools from around the world that offer Executive Education.

Currently, at the top 18 in the world, Nova SBE stands out for the 4th consecutive year as the best-ranked Portuguese school in the Financial Times ranking, thus confirming its leadership in Executive Education in Portugal. Through its programs, Nova SBE Executive Education affirms itself as a platform that directly impacts the economy by involving public and private institutions in developing Portugal's competitiveness, particularly in its SMEs, representing most of Portugal’s corporate landscape.

Moreover, Nova SBE Executive Education’s Customized Programs ranked 16th in the world, with special emphasis given to International Participants, which ranked 8th in the world, reflecting the intense focus on the internationalization of its programs. 2023 will be an example of this with two events that demonstrate the global positioning of Nova SBE Executive Education:

  • An exclusive, global executive program for international companies with elements of immersive learning, with engaging and hands-on methodologies will be held at the Carcavelos campus in the second week of September.
  • On September 21 and 22, Nova SBE will host the UNICON Europe Regional Meet up, where Executive Education leaders from 40 business schools will meet to discuss the Future of Executive Education.

Open Programs ranked 29th in the world, with special emphasis given to Partnerships, 6th worldwide, which reflects the progress and the partnerships achieved with organizations of excellence, such as the business schools that belong to the UNICON global network. Another example is the Exponential Business Administration (xBA) program, which results from a partnership between Nova SBE and StartSe, and was distinguished at MERIT Summit 2022, in Madrid, with an international innovation award.

2023 also marks the return of schools of excellence to this Executive Education ranking, such as INSEAD and the University of Oxford: Saïd, which re-enter the 3rd and 14th positions, respectively, reinforcing the excellence of the group that makes up the world's top 18, of which Nova SBE Executive Education is part of.

“The proximity to our corporate partners, the quality of our faculty, and the school's vision focused on impact are some of the reasons for this success. But also, the avant-garde culture reflected in the teaching methodology, namely through the integration of real challenges from companies, the introduction of new learning technologies, and support for the professional development of students.” says Pedro Brito, Associate Dean of Executive Education at Nova SBE, adding, “since we began our path in executive education, we have been committed to helping people and organizations prepare for their future, from a perspective of lifelong employability, so we provide an offer that integrates active learning, personalized and aligned with the real needs of people, companies, and societies.

Pedro Oliveira, Dean of Nova SBE, reflects on results obtained in this ranking, “Nova SBE is one of the four Portuguese schools in the Financial Times Executive Education ranking, which once again demonstrates the excellent quality of education in Portugal. The results achieved by Nova SBE, which is ranked 18th in the world (the best ever obtained by any Portuguese school in this ranking), consolidates our leadership in Portugal, both in open and customized programs, leave us very satisfied, and show that we are on the right path to creating a community of talent and knowledge that impacts the world. It is through working with companies and organizations that we can transform the economy and society; educating leaders prepared to understand their role and responsibility in building a more just and sustainable society”.
