Nova School of Business & Economics, the Municipality of Cascais, and the University of Chicago, are honored to invite all to the 2018 Summit of the Summer Fellowship Program of Data Science for Social Good Europe, which will take place on August 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the Nova School of Business & Economics’ Carcavelos Campus, followed by lunch.

We are looking forward to welcoming you, and would kindly ask you to check the morning’s agenda and confirm your presence here.

This event will bring together data scientists and policy and decision-makers from all over the world who have been intensively working together for the last three months to solve some of the most pressing societal challenges of the 21st century such as long-term unemployment, vaccination, incident response, and sustainable tourism.

To do this, fellows worked hand in hand with project partners to achieve one common goal:

Use big data analytics and artificial intelligence algorithms to find solutions to some of the most pressing problems of the 21st century.

  • Can inspectors get to an incident before it happens?
  • Can we know who is at risk of being long-term unemployed?
  • Can we identify who are the children at risk of non-vaccination?
  • How can we promote sustainable tourism solutions?

Data Science for Social Good is a University of Chicago’s initiative, that is lead in Europe by the Nova School of Business & Economics since 2017. Watch the video from last year’s DSSG Europe Summit here and find out how DSSG Europe can contribute to society?
