The third edition of the Inclusive Community Forum's (ICF) annual event, Inclusive Talks, took place on June 23, and companies, social organizations, and partners shared the role they have been playing and what has been accomplished so far on the employability and education of people with disabilities.

Last month, the ICF, a Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) initiative aimed at promoting a more open and inclusive community for people with disabilities, organized the 2021 Inclusive Talks– an important event in which of all those who play a role in the co-creation of solutions for people with disabilities get together and publicly share all the work they have been developing on the topics at hand.

This year and given the current pandemic, the event was broadcasted online via Nova SBE's YouTube channel and started with an opening moment from Daniel Traça, Dean of Nova SBE, who reminded everyone of the importance of establishing a culture of impact for a more equitable world, and Rui Diniz, CUF's CEO and Founder of the ICF, who reminisced how this initiative was created thus strengthening the importance of this third edition.

After this initial moment, the ICF presented the significant advancements reached in 2020 and 2021 on the employability and education of people with disabilities. Regarding employability, the different paths to inclusive recruitment were presented through testimonials from the companies that carried out this implementation. The journey for inclusion also counted with several testimonials from companies that have made this journey.

After this moment, the education theme was analyzed, namely with a diagnosis of main obstacles to inclusion and the presentation of the journey to empowerment, which corresponds to the initiatives carried out by the ICF community to answer the identified challenges.

Aside from the brave new testimonials and success stories, the important highlight of the 2021 Inclusive Talks was the signing of the "Commitment to Inclusion" by three new companies – Grupo Barraqueiro, Novo Banco, and Sonae – a commitment that now has a total of 41 companies entirely dedicated to being more inclusive towards people with disabilities.

If you didn't have the opportunity to participate, or you wish to rewatch it so you can learn what's being done towards a more inclusive community, you can watch it here.
