Awards | 03 May 2021 Nova SBE Students are the big winners of the Portuguese finals of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2021

Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), namely the team of Nova SBE students Clara Melissa Gamerdinger, Victoria Morgaine Reinecke, and Andy Yuy, was the big winner of the Portuguese final of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2021, the innovative challenge of the renowned French brand aimed at higher education students.

This international competition, meant for senior university students worldwide, challenges students to develop innovative ideas in the Beauty and Cosmetics industry that may be implemented by one of L'Oréal's top brands.

This year's edition of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2021 Portuguese finals had as its main topic "Reinvent the Beauty Shopping Experience through Entertainment," challenging students to explore the retail and e-commerce market with the help of digital experts from L'Oréal. Due to the current pandemic, it took place virtually, on April 20 and 21, and Nova SBE had five teams selected for this competition.

"Glamified," from students Clara Melissa Gamerdinger, Victoria Morgaine Reinecke, and Andy Yuy, was the big winner of the Portuguese finals. It will be the project that will represent Portugal in the big international finale. The team, mentored by Nova SBE Professor Irene Consiglio, presented a revolutionary online shopping platform. Through a dynamic app with a smart algorithm – L'Unité by L'Oréal – consumers can interactively purchase their favorite products while being advised by beauty influencers who share their knowledge and experience of beauty routines.

The winning team will receive L'Oréal's Intrapreneurship Award and will have the opportunity to develop their project in an immersive mission held in Paris, at L'Oréal's headquarters, and at Station F, the biggest startup camps in the world. It is important to highlight that the team of students Marta Mouro, Catarina Batista, and Sofia Duarte also managed a position at the podium even though it didn't win first place.

The winning team will now have the opportunity to represent Portugal in the international semi-finals, which will take place on May 11. The six teams with the highest score will compete for the final prize on June 10, in Paris.
