The newly created Check-in Open Innovation program, from the Nova SBE Entrepreneurship Hub and the Westmont Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, will organize the MatchMaking Check-In event, which will gather 20 national and international startups with 16 tourism SMEs to promote successful partnerships and solutions to transform tourism in Portugal.

On March 24, 25, and 26, Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) – through the Nova SBE Entrepreneurship Hub and the Westmont Institute of Tourism & Hospitality, sponsored by Turismo de Portugal – will organize MatchMaking Check-In. This is Check-in Open Innovation's first official event to find new and transformative solutions while providing the necessary tools and mindset so that these tourism SMEs can mitigate COVID-19's negative impact.

MatchMaking Check-In will gather 20 startups and 16 tourism SMEs for three days to promote successful partnerships and help find new solutions to transform the industry. The event will have the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, in the opening moment and Professor Daniel Traça, Dean of Nova SBE.

After the inaugural moment, there will also be two talks with Nova SBE professors Nadim Habib and Ricardo Zózimo on “Continuous Innovation" and "How to Maximize Impact" on March 24 and 25, respectively. In the first two days, the participating startups will have over 60 meetings to create synergies, promote diversity, and propose pilot projects that will be developed alongside the SMEs until June 17. The last day of the event will be precisely dedicated to these proposals.

Due to the current pandemic, the event is entirely digital. However, it is still a decisive moment of the Check-in Open Innovation program, rules, since its conception, by its ambition of developing and co-creating innovative projects and building tourism experiences that are more current, sustainable, and safe.
