One of the members of the research unit of Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) won the António Simões Lopes award 2018, which awards the best Ph.D. thesis in Economic and Entrepreneurial Sciences that were approved in public examinations by Portuguese universities.

This award is an initiative of the Ordem Portuguesa dos Economistas [Portuguese Economists Order] in partnership with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) that this year distinguished one of the members of the Nova SBE Research Unit. After analyzing all the thesis that were submitted, the jury awarded the António Simões Lopes award 2018 – Best Ph.D. thesis in Economics – to Sónia Félix – who is a member of Nova SBE’s Research Unit – for the paper Essays on Labor, Product, and Credit Market Imperfections.

Sónia completed her Ph.D. at Nova SBE with the abovementioned thesis, which she defended on February 17th 2017, supervised by Professor Pedro Portugal, and won the António Simões Lopes award 2018 in ex aequo with a student from the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto [Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto (FEP)].

The award was bestowed last November 2nd during the 14th Annual Conference of the Ordem [Order], which took place in the Auditorium 2 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, that had the State General Budget for 2019 as its main topic.
