Academic Information
Classes
All programs have classes on-campus, unless there are specific situations where the health of the community is compromised. Some have part of the classes online, and the models vary depending on the program and the course. For more information, please see the Back to Campus Guide and the courses’ syllabi. The only situation where all classes will fully be resumed online is in case of a new full lockdown and/or by the government or health authorities’ imposition.
In regular circumstances, there are no fully online courses. All courses will have at least part of the classes on-campus. For students who cannot go to campus – whether due to traveling difficulties, illness, or quarantine – there is the possibility to stream classes.
Some elements of the academic programs are taught in a blended learning format besides the fully in-person model. The blended format is a combination of synchronous (on-campus) and asynchronous (online) classes. The blended courses have between 50 % and 66 % of classes on-campus.
The size of the sections has been adapted to the classrooms’ revised capacity. The course’s offer has been adapted to maintain capacity by increasing the number of sections and adapting the teaching models.
Students must keep faculty informed of any exceptional situations.
Given the level of uncertainty, we strongly discourage students from traveling during the semester.
NEW: The Portuguese government has announced a full lockdown, during which Universities are to move their activities online. The measure will be reassessed ever fortnight and can be reverted or extended further. In this period, access to the Campus is only possible under extraordinary circumstances and needs to be approved by the Dean.
