Ph.D. in Economics and Finance

At Nova SBE we know the importance of equal opportunities and want to make sure that no student is excluded from higher education due to financial restrictions.

Fees may be reduced up to 90 %, depending on the academic merit of the candidate. Academic merit is defined through analysis of performance relative to the program requirements for each year.

Our Research Unit is funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) in this program. Excellent candidates may be selected for a Ph.D. scholarship in the next academic year, which grants them a living stipend (980 euros/month) and covers 2750 euros of the fees per academic year.

Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) regularly opens calls for doctoral fellowships that you should also consider. We will be glad to support you in this application. The Call for Individual Doctoral Fellowships FCT 2019 is available here.

The fees are 3000 euros per academic year (1500 each semester).

Improving Quality of Care in Europe

Nova SBE participates in a European Training Network (ETN) conducted by seven academic partners who belong to the largest and most prestigious health economic centers in Europe, and each partner will take the lead in the respective area of strength.

We currently host 2 Ph.D. students under the supervision of Prof. Pedro Pita Barros with the following themes: “Competition and quality of care in primary care” and “Impact of economic crisis on health, quality of care and demand.”
