General Admission

First things first

General eligibility criteria

  • Candidates from any Bachelor’s program. However, if you have limited quantitative skills you may need to complete bridging courses in August.
  • Professional experience is NOT a requirement to be admitted.
  • This program is pre-experience and we would prefer to receive applications from candidates with less than two years’ professional experience and  less or equal to 26 years of age. However, we will consider older applicants who present a similar pre-experience profile.
  • The working language of Nova SBE is English. No knowledge of Portuguese is necessary for the purposes of life on campus. However, we strongly recommend students possess the following level of English language competency prior to commencing their studies: B2 (Upper Intermediate).

Eligibility criteria for the International Master's in Management

Admission Requirements (upon application)

  • English language at minimum C1 level (or as mother tongue);

  • Second language and a third (if English is not the mother tongue) at minimum A2 level (or mother tongue);

Requirements to graduate as International Master's

  • English at minimum C1 level (or as mother tongue);

  • Second language and a third (if English is not the mother tongue) at minimum B1 level (or mother tongue);

  • Have completed a minimum of one of the following activities at the end of the second semester, or be able to provide proof that the requirements will be completed before the conclusion of the program (minimum 10-weeks):

  1. International Exchange Semester outside Portugal and outside the country where the Bachelor’s degree was obtained;

  2. Or International Internship outside the campus country - Portugal, and the birthplace country of the student;

  3. Or be enrolled and complete a CEMS or Double Degree.

Failure to reach requirements at the end of the second semester will result in being transferred into the Regular Master’s Degree.
The standard duration of the International Master's in Management is three terms — two academic semesters and an additional term for completing the thesis.

Now, let’s take it step by step

Applications will open on October 1 until Ocober 30, 2020, in order to start the Master's by late January 2021.

Applications for Double Degree and CEMS, are not available in the Spring Intake contest.

Candidates will receive an answer by email within a maximum of 6-weeks from application submission.

Confirmation of enrolment will be subject to presentation of an official graduation certificate within the first month of classes.

  • Portrait/ ID photo
  • Copy of ID card
  • Curriculum Vitae (in English)
  • Grade transcript with full course list and grades in English
  • Motivation letter (for Double Degree candidates only)
  • One-page Essay (in English)
  • Household Tax Return Transcript (in English) - only for Means-tested scholarship candidates
  • Second foreign language certificate (mandatory for International Master’s in Management)*
  • English certificate with minimum level of B2* – recommended for the Master's in Management | English certificate with minimum level of C1* - mandatory for the International Master's in Management
  • Application fee payment receipt (non-refundable fee of 51€ for all applicants) 
  • Any other documents in English that you think may enrich your application, such as an international mobility proof, reference letter, language certificates* and/or GMAT/GRE
  • Additional Application Form (for Double Degree candidates only)
     

If the diploma is not in Portuguese/English, applicants should attach the diploma supplement or the official transcript of records in English with the entire academic background: degree, final GPA, graduation date.

If the Diploma/Certificate does not have the above mentioned elements, applicants must send:

  • Or the Diploma Supplement or the Official Transcript of records in English

  • Or certified translation of the Diploma/Certificate

* All the language certificates/diplomas should state the level according to the CEFR. Nova SBE does not accept online language certificates and high school diplomas, as proof of language proficiency.

Step One — Online application
The admissions process starts upon submission of the online application along with the relevant documents.
Confirmation of enrolment will be subject to presentation of an official graduation certificate within the first month of classes.

Step Two — Interview
General Admission: Candidates may have to attend a Skype interview with either Alumni or faculty designed to examine the information provided in the application and evaluate the applicant’s eligibility and suitability for the program.

Step Three — Decision

Following the application review, the Admissions Committee will make its final decision based on all information available. Selection decisions will be made in rounds/periods. 

Decisions will be communicated by email. 

Candidates are responsible for checking their email account for school messages (including the spam or junk folders). In the event of no contact from the school, candidates should email or call the Student Recruitment & Admissions Office. When accepted, if candidates don’t confirm their commitment to be in the program, these slots will be considered vacant for the next selection round.

Step Four — Enrolment
Accepted candidates will have to pay a 1000€ non-refundable enrolment fee, to be deducted from the total tuition fee. 

No exceptions or late payments will be accepted.

Admitted students can defer for up to one semester. They must inform the school until the enrolment fee payment deadline, pay the enrolment fee and each case, in order to be accepted, will be subject to analysis by the Student Recruitment & Admissions Office. Not respecting this deadline or making an unsuccessful request to defer will require submission of a new application.
The defer may be subject to a re-entry fee.
