First things first

General eligibility criteria

  • Candidates from Bachelor’s programs with a strong quantitative background i.e. economics, mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, data analytics.
  • ​Professional experience is NOT a requirement to be admitted.
  • This program is pre-experience and we would prefer to receive applications from candidates with less than two years’ professional experience and equal or below  26 years of age. However, we are certainly willing to consider older applicants who present a similar pre-experience profile - to know if you are elegible to apply, please contact the Student Recruitment & Admissions Office. 

The working language of Nova SBE is English. No knowledge of Portuguese is necessary for the purposes of life on campus. However, we strongly recommend students possess the following level of English language competency prior to commencing their studies: B2 (Upper Intermediate).

Now, let’s take it step by step

Applications will open on January 2021, in order to start the Master's by early September 2021. 

Candidates will receive an answer by email within a maximum of 8-weeks from application submission.

Confirmation of enrolment will be subject to presentation of an official graduation certificate within the first month of classes.

You can only apply once within the several application rounds.

  • Passport/portrait photo
  • Copy of ID card
  • Curriculum Vitae (in English)
  • Grade transcript with full course list and grades in English
  • Motivation letter (for Double Degree candidates only)
  • One-page Essay (in English)
  • Household Tax Return Transcript (in English) - only for Means-tested scholarship candidates
  • English Certificate with at least Level B2* - recommended
  • Application fee payment receipt (non-refundable fee of 51€ for all applicants)
  • Any other documents in English that you think may enrich your application, such as a reference letters, language certificates* and/or GMAT/GRE. Candidates from outside the EU are strongly advised to submit their GRE score.
  • Additional Application Form (for Double Degree candidates only)

If the diploma is not in Portuguese/English, applicants should attach the diploma supplement or the official transcript of records in English with the entire academic background: degree, final GPA, graduation date.

* All the language certificates/diplomas should state the level according to the CEFR. Nova SBE does not accept online language certificates and high school diplomas, as proof of language proficiency.

Step One — Online application
The admissions process starts upon submission of the online application along with the relevant documents mentioned above. Confirmation of enrolment will be subject to presentation of an official graduation certificate within the first month of classes.

Step Two — Interview
General Admission:
Candidates may have to attend a Skype interview with either Alumni or faculty designed to examine the information provided in the application and evaluate the applicant’s eligibility and suitability for the program.

Double Degree: Candidates already accepted into a Nova SBE Master’s program and successfully pre-screened are invited to an interview in March, April and May.

CEMS MIM:  Candidates accepted into a Nova SBE Master’s program and successfully pre-screened are invited to an assessment designed to evaluate academic potential, international orientation, and communication skills.

Step Three — Decision
Following the application review, the Admissions Committee will make its final decision based on all information available. Selection decisions will be made in rounds/periods: end of February, end of March, end of April, end of May and early July. 

Decisions will be communicated by email.

Candidates are responsible for checking their email account for school messages (including the spam or junk folders). In the event of no contact from the school, candidates should email or call the Student Recruitment & Admissions Office. When accepted, if candidates don’t confirm their commitment to be in the program, these slots will be considered vacant for the next selection round.

Step Four — Enrolment
Accepted candidates will have to pay a 1000€ non-refundable enrolment fee, to be deducted from the total tuition fee. 

No exceptions or late payments will be accepted.

Enrolment in the Double Degree and CEMS MIM programs becomes effective after payment of an additional 1500€ non-refundable fee, to be deducted from the total tuition fee.

Admitted students can defer for up to one year. They must inform the school until the enrolment fee payment deadline, pay the enrolment fee and each case, in order to be accepted, will be subject to analysis by the Student Recruitmet & Admissions Office. Not respecting this deadline or making an unsuccessful request to defer will require submission of a new application.
The defer may be subject to a re-entry fee.
