CEMS Master's in International Management

Mandatory Courses

Mandatory courses are offered exclusively to CEMS students. During Semester 1, students have to successfully complete a CEMS Course in the field of Global Strategy. During Semester 2, similarly, students have to successfully complete a CEMS Course in the field of Global Management Practices.

Students must pass CEMS Courses accounting for 45 ECTS. During Semester 1, students have to successfully complete a CEMS Course in the field of Global Strategy. During Semester 2, similarly, students have to successfully complete a CEMS Course in the field of Global Management Practices.

Beside the mandatory courses, students are encouraged to build up their individual course plan of elective, exclusive, and open elective courses.

Mandatory courses are offered exclusively to CEMS students. The courses are a selection of the best courses from the Nova SBE Master’s program portfolio.

Block Seminar

The Block Seminar is offered at the beginning of the first semester. It is an academically and culturally intensive week. At Nova SBE the Block Seminar focuses on High Performance Innovation.

Skill Seminars

Skill Seminars are training seminars for practical skills (usually one-day-long), brought to students by the school and CEMS Corporate Partner Companies. They are essential in kick-starting a professional career. Recent Skill Seminars at Nova SBE:

Responsible Global Leadership Seminar

The Responsible Global Leadership Seminar (RGL) is a two-day seminar which takes place at the beginning of the second semester. The RGL brings together representatives from Corporate and/or Social Partners, professors and students, for an experiential learning experience.

The CEMS MIM is designed for multilingual, multicultural students seeking to build a career abroad where they will interact with people of different nationalities and from different cultures, so language proficiency has a very important role in the curriculum.

Entry requirements

Candidates must provide one of the following as proof of completing an English certificate upon submission of their application:

• TOEFL iBT minimum score – 100
• IELTS Academic minimum score – 7.0
• CPE minimum grade of C
• CAE minimum grade of B
• BEC Higher minimum grade of B
• Have passed one of the CEMS-accredited local English exams
• A-level GCSE issued in Singapore
• University degree taught entirely in English and validated by the CEMS Office
   

Graduation Requirements

They must also be able to prove the following level for their second and third languages respectively:

• A CEMS-accredited language: mother tongue or B2 oral + B1 written level
• Any other language: mother tongue or introductory language course or exam from selected language school

The CEMS languages are: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Czech, Danish, Dutch / Afrikaans, Farsi / Tajik, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi / Urdu, Hungarian, Indonesian / Malay, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croat (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin), Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

For the third language requirement, CEMS students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone.

CEMS uses the Common European Framework of References (CEFR) for comparing proficiency in languages. There are six levels on the CEFR scale, where levels C2 and C1 describe a proficient user, levels B2 and B1 an intermediate user, and levels A2 and A1 a basic user.

Business Projects (BPs) are a mandatory component of the CEMS MIM and each of the 32 Business Schools of the CEMS Alliance offer Business Projects over the CEMS MIM 2nd Semester. They are designed as a real life learning experience for international teams of students, who solve a real business problem, tutored by a company representative and a professor, in parallel. The Business Projects worth 15 ECTS and engage at least half of the students’ workload of the 2nd Semester at Nova SBE (from February to May).
