Eligibility criteria

The International Master’s degree in Finance is specifically designed for candidates who have a clear ambition to develop an international career. Looking for a first job in a multinational company or a company outside of their home countries is key to develop their multicultural experience in Finance and leapfrog their experience and career development potential in a global context.

The International Master’s degree in Management is specifically designed for candidates who have a clear ambition to develop an international career. Looking for a first job in a multinational company or a company outside of their home countries is key to develop their multicultural experience in Management and leapfrog their experience and career development potential in a global context.

Now, let’s take it step by step

Cumulative and mandatory criteria proved before submitting the application for the International Master’ in Management/Finance program, besides the general admission requirements established for the regular Master’s programs:

   1.Language skills:

  • English language at minimum C1 level;
  • Second foreign language at minimum B1 level;
  • Third foreign language at minimum B1 level (mandatory if English is not the mother tongue).

If the candidate has two mother tongues, they must request the “Honour Statement for Bilingual Candidates” document via leadyourfuture@novasbe.pt.

    2.Internationalization experience:

  • Mandatory international experience completed after the end of the Bachelor’s and before the start of the Master’s program during a minimum period of 4 weeks. Only experiences outside of Portugal and outside of the country of nationality of the applicant will be considered;
  • The internship can be virtual and may, or may not, be paid;
  • The company/organization can be a Portuguese company operating overseas, but the overseas entity must be the one offering the internship;
  • The proof of internship must be provided by the official internship organization, along with any additional documentation proving the exact dates of the internship and its location.

All candidates who do not meet the eligibility requirements before submitting their applications will be automatically considered for the regular Master’s program. After this, admitted candidates may later change their degree to the International program before completing their second semester in the regular Master’s. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation and considering the worldwide boarder restrictions, admissions criteria, namely the internship length, were reviewed. This is temporary and full criteria will be reintroduced for future intakes when international mobility becomes viable once more.

During the program, students may apply to a change of degree at the appropriate time as long as this occurs until the end of your second semester, i.e. before work project semester. No requests will be permitted beyond this period.

For students who wish to APPLY to the International graduate program, the following eligibility requirements are necessary:

For students who wish to change to the International graduate program, the following eligibility requirements are necessary:

   1.Language skills:

  • English language at minimum C1 level (or as mother tongue);
  • Second language and a third (if English is not the mother tongue) at minimum B1 level (or mother tongue);

 

   2.Internationalization experience:

  • International Exchange Semester, during the Master's program, outside Portugal and outside the country where the Bachelor’s degree was obtained;

  • Enrollment on CEMS or Double Degree;

      or

  • Acceptance in a 4-week international internship outside of Portugal and outside of the country of nationality of the student, during the Master's:
    -The internship can be virtual and may, or may not, be paid;
    -The company/organization can be a Portuguese company operating overseas, but the overseas entity is who must offer the internship in order for it to qualify;
    -The company that provides the internship must provide supporting documentation to prove that the internship exists, and that the student has completed it with them.

A Selection Committee will assess all applications and take the selection decisions (applicants may be called for interviews).
