Be amazed by the Portuguese environment

Portugal is one of a kind. Its people, its culture and its weather make it a welcoming place for people from all over the world. Let yourself be embraced by this environment.

Living the city

Alfama

Alfama

Alfama is the old town, and it’s where the São Jorge Castle is located. Wandering its streets exploring the restaurants and the Fado clubs is a unique experience.

Belém

Belém

Belém is where you can find the original Pastel de Nata while contemplating the impressive architecture of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. Make sure you visit Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB), the largest cultural center in Portugal.

Santini

Santini

Santini serves the best ice-creams in town (and maybe the world?) for more than 60 years now. The original shop is to be found in Cascais and a quick stop is mandatory when wandering around the area.

Marina de Cascais

Marina de Cascais

A great place for a walk and maybe a drink while contemplating the sunset over the sea.

Sintra

Sintra

Palácio da Pena, Quinta da Regaleira and the tasty Travesseiros de Sintra are a must. Sintra, with all its astonishing involving landscape, seems like a mystic different world.

Nightlife

Since its inauguration in 1998, Lux changed the nightlife in Lisbon and became a reference in Portugal and Europe. It’s famous for its glamorous decoration, varied DJ sets and, of course, the wonderful terrace facing the river.

Make sure you also visit Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré, two neighborhoods in the center of Lisbon, home to artsy hip stores during the day, and a wide variety of bars and restaurants during the night.

Along the coast, you will find many places to have fun at night: Tamariz and the famous Casino in Estoril, or the Stairway Club and Jezzebel in Cascais. In the center of Cascais you will find many restaurants, bars and clubs. This city hosts EDP Cool Jazz, a well known Summer festival, which makes a great opportunity to check many great international Jazz artists.

Speaking of Summer Festivals: every year in July NOS Alive happens in Algés (just 10 minutes from the campus by tram). This is a music festival that hosts the best contemporary bands and generally tickets are quickly sold out.

Arts and Culture

Lisbon offers a wide list of museums and architectural sites that will suit many different tastes.
