Three Nova SBE Professors: Miguel Ferreira, Susana Peralta and João Amador (also from Banco de Portugal) and five Nova SBE Alumni: Miguel Faria e Castro (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis), Francisca Guedes de Oliveira, (currently at Universidade Católica), Miguel Rocha de Sousa (currently at Universidade de Évora), Tiago Sequeira (currently at Universidade de Coimbra), and Alexandra Ferreira Lopes (currently at ISCTE) were among 25 specialists invited to speak with Prime Minister António Costa about the country's economic and financial situation. All defended that the reopening of the Portuguese economy should happen with caution, otherwise a new wave of the virus might occur. The general consensus is the economy should only reopen if people have the confidence to return to work and general life, without the risk of becoming ill.
