António Bernardo holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Lisbon Polytechnic; an MSc in Structural Engineering and an MBA from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He later did post-graduate studies on Corporate Strategy at Stanford University and INSEAD. After launching his professional career at the European Union; followed by a stint at JP Morgan Investment Bank; he joined Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in 1990 as Managing Director of the Lisbon office. He became Managing Director of Roland Berger´s offices in Spain; Italy and South America in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he was member of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants´ Partner Management Committee.

From July 2003to December 2011; he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants´ Executive Committee (EC). António Bernardo was elected member of the Supervisory Board of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in December 2011 and is Managing Director of the offices in Portugal; Brazil and Spain and he is Vice Chairman of Italy. 

 For the last 20 years; he has been a Visiting Professor chairing the Corporate Strategy course at Nova School of Business and Economics.

In 2006; he was distinguished with the prestigious Ordem do Infante D. Henrique (Grau Comendador); one of the Portuguese´s highest honors; by Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio.  He is an expert in the fields of corporate strategy; organization; and in mergers and acquisitions. His industry focus is energy; financial services and consumer goods and retail.
